About Sophia Slates

Sophia Slates is a Christian singer-songwriter who brings songs to life with the folk instruments she plays. Influenced by artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Francesca Battistelli, Toby Mac, and more, she
has been inspired to learn as much about music as possible. She will graduate with a degree in Commercial Music with emphases in Music Technology and Music Business in the spring of 2022.
Her debut album titled “My Story” was released in March 2020, and she is eager to begin recording her second studio album.

As a professional musician, Sophia is not only passionate about performance but about teaching as well. Sophia has taught music lessons to beginner and intermediate students and is particularly excited to share her love of music with children. This started at the age of four when she joined a children’s choir, like a show choir, but for kids aged four through eighteen. When Sophia got a little bit older, she realized that her passion for music began because of the cultivation of that kind of creativity at such a young age.

Sophia is also a worship leader and is passionate about cultivating an authentic worship experience that allows people to freely worship without simulating a ‘Holy Spirit’ experience. She wants to ensure that people who enter a place of worship feel comfortable and able to freely worship God in a public place. She prays this helps them grow closer to God as well as continue to grow the love of Christ within her community.
